A SONG FOR ECHO

“A song for Echo” - began what is now over 24hrs of documentary style film that has journeyed with me throughout both pregnancies, labor and delivery of Echo and now Free. I began this work to build a life for my children Echo and Free, in a world that wasn’t designed for us to survive. It is a blooming multi-year reflection on the multi-generational dynamics of black motherhood, and the significance of dance practice as a form of storytelling and healing. It is a magical-verite account of the joys and hardships we find in surviving these dark times. With hopes of creating a more hopeful reality for my children as they flourish in their individual growth in tandem with my personal growth.
